About Rick Florino:

BIO:
Rick Florino moved to Los Angeles from Boston to pursue his dream of working in the entertainment biz upon graduating from Boston University at only 19-years old. He started working at New Line Cinema and freelancing for magazines such as Metal Edge, AMP and Lollipop. Constantly writing, he cultivated a unique style that was clever, vivid and highly eloquent. That style would fuel his 2006 endeavor, Ruin Magazine.
Shortly after arriving on the West Coast, Rick founded Ruin, a full-color glossy hard rock magazine carried in Hot Topic stores nationally. Rick sold the ads, wrote most of the stories and snapped a lot of the photos. Simultaneously, he worked as an editor for Citysearch.com, writing celebrity profiles and restaurant reviews.
Since 2007, Rick has been working as an editor for ARTISTdirect.com, where he conducts interviews with A-list film and music talent for exclusive features—in print and on-camera. His words have appeared in publications including KERRANG!, Inked Magazine, BPM, Revolver, Hit Parader, LAX Magazine, Shockhound.com, Craveonline.com, Bloody-Disgusting.com and many more. The universally sought-after scribe also writes bios and press releases for major record labels, film studios and publicity firms. He has also been quoted on TV spots and print advertisements for major films from Paramount, Disney, Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Universal and Lions Gate. Rick has been awarded gold records for his work on Hollywood Undead's A&M/Octone Records debut Swan Songs and Five Finger Death Punch's War is the Answer and The Way of the Fist.
His first book, Do the Devil's Work for Him, came out in stores everywhere in June 2009. It's a how-to guide that reflects his experience of coming to Hollywood and starting a successful career in the music business. In support of the book, Rick was featured on No Good TV with members of Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver, System of a Down and DevilDriver discussing the project. Host Carrie Keagan grilled Rick and the rock stars about Devil in a hilarious segment. He was also featured on FOX NEWS.
Rick then dove into his second project, a supernatural thriller series of novellas.. The first book of Dolor, Lila, dropped on October 20, 2009. Lila received critical praise from Fangoria, Bloody-Disgusting.com, Shallow Graves Magazine, LAX Magazine, Bookgasm.com, 411mania.com and many more. It was featured as the talent gift bag at Fangoria's TRINITY OF TERRORS and Universal's Chiller EYEGORE AWARDS. Hollywood Undead and DevilDriver both distributed it on tour. Book II of Dolor, Chrissy, followed in February 2010, while Book III, Arielle, was available in September 2010. Later volumes of the series received widespread acclaim and coverage from Royal Flush Magazine, URB Magazine, The Examiner, Kikaxe.com, and more.
In December 2010, Florino partnered up with Bloody-Disgusting and multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning hard rock luminaries Korn to release Six Bullets to Sunrise, a digital novella. Korn supported the release with cross promotion and a cover art contest, where the best Six Bullets to Sunrise cover art received a signed drum head from the band. Six Bullets to Sunrise has been downloaded and viewed over 5,000 times since its December 15, 2010 launch.
He remains immersed in movies and music, and his next endeavors are publishing more books and making movies. In addition, he loves to read, box, take cooking classes, run, hike, and play video games.
